Kindergarten Program Overview

Maurice Cody Child Care has a licensed capacity for 78 children, aged 4 to 5 years old.

Our childcare team of Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) and Early Childhood Assistants (ECA) use their knowledge of early child development, Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) and How Does Learning Happen? to observe the children in the room in order to determine what developmental tasks the children are interested in and working on.

Our program grows and evolves as the educators begin to know each of the children and families.  The goal set out for before-and-after-school kindergarten care is to provide a seamless day between childcare, school and home.

We will regularly communicate with your children’s School Board Teachers so that we can enhance your child’s learning by implementing learning experiences that may be a continuation of what they have learned in the school day.  We’ll start with welcoming and orienting all of the kindergarten children.

Full day kindergarten (FDK) began in September 2012 at Maurice Cody Public School. Our Kindergarten program is a separate program from the others and our contract is reviewed annually.
